At Jacobsen's Driving School, we have a vision for Solano County and the whole West Coast to be the fore-runner of the next generation of High Tech driving schools and making Vacaville and Fairfield our corporate locations.

Since Jacobsen's Driving School started in December 2001 and actually opened at the end of June 2002. Jacobsen’s Driving School is designed to help change the statistics by targeting pre-licensed teens 16 to 24 year olds and all first time drivers who have earned or about to earn a drivers license, but still lack the driving experience including helping seniors regain their driver license.
While buckling up and driving sober are the most fundamental rules that drivers need to follow, these programs are designed to go one step further and focuses on the driving skills.

To farther enhance our Driver Education Program. We added our famous Drunk Buster goggles to our Drug and Alcohol Program in August, 2002. The goggles impairs your vision and simulates under-the-influence of drugs and alcohol and other impairments.

In the July of 2003, we introduced the S-3100 Interactive Modular Simulator to add to our arsenal of High Tech driver education and driver training, further enhancing our programs. The S-3100 driving simulator is unique, you can practice with a automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission. You practice on a circuit track with or without cars, city, freeway, mountains, driving under-the-influence of drugs or alcohol, in rain, icy roads, in fog, night driving. The S-3100 driving simulator has over 400 driving exercises, over 240 driving scenarios, and over 30 different lessons that covers everything from pre-drive checks, rules of the road, scanning principles, defensive driving techniques, avoiding collisions, identifying road hazards, driving in adverse weather conditions. We have also added to our S-3100 driving simulator, our famous Drunk Buster Goggles while they are driving, experiencing the real-world driving hazards of everyday life.

In October of 2003, we have added another wonder from our driving school industry. Introducing the S-3300 Virtual-Reality Driving Simulator for Rehabilitation Training. It offers comprehensive driver education and rehabilitation training along with hands on practice sessions covering everything from how to operate both automatic and manual transmissions, dashboard functions, and hand and foot controls, steering, gear control, acceleration and braking, proper lane changes. The S-3300 also offers defensive driving techniques, scanning principles, how to identify road hazards, avoiding accidents, challenging risky situations as well as adverse driving conditions, such as rain, fog, icy roads, night driving. We can test and train people disabilities to drive.

So in August 2004, continuing to stay with the trend, we introduced WelcomeDriver online driver education program. WelcomeDriver online driver education program is the only online Drivers Education Program reviewed and approved by the State of California DMV and endorsed by the Driving School Association of California. WelcomeDriver program is based on the DMV’S 10 unit lesson plan. It is broken down to 26 shorter lesson units.

This fully interactive program is designed to provide a full 25 hours of content including photographs, graphics, and 45 short videos.
The 29 program units include 1 introductory unit, 26 lessons, 1 reference unit which includes the California Drivers Handbook, and a permit practice test engine. Each program includes an EZ-speed CD that the students can use to speed up the lesson by avoiding the down loading of installers, graphics, and movies, giving them the speed of a CD instead of the Internet, making the experience pleasant even for those students on dial-up connections.

As of January 2005, Jacobsen’s Driving School is revolutionizing the way on-line driver education is taught. We are introducing the WelcomeDriver Hybrid Driver Education Program. It is the same online program, plus it is a ( 2 ) night driver education program supervised by State driver education instructors. You will receive your classroom certificate from WelcomeDriver and as you enroll in drivers training, Jacobsen’s Driving School will give you the enrollment in Drivers Training certificate. Take both certificates with you for the final exam at the DMV.
As of January, 2005 , in our classroom. We have added how to install snow chains and Basic Car Care to our Driver Education Program, which is seasonal.

Driving a motor vehicle competently and safely requires both physical, maturity, and judgment skills acquired over time.
Most parents and safety experts recognize that the sensible way for teens to learn good driving habits is to phase them into those habits gradually. We know most drivers receive no instruction beyond practice driving with a parent riding in the passenger seat. Even though driver’s education is still available in high schools, increasingly not the case in most communities. Public school, Commercial driving school, home study and internet drivers education programs emphases is on passing the state licensing exam and not teaching the skills and attitudes that will make teens and other first time drivers a competent and safe driver and others do not have qualified teachers and well trained instructors.
The Jacobsen’s Driving Schools campaign encourages parents, teens and all first time drivers to seek out professional in-car driver’s training.
Here are some things to think about:
   -   On the phone: is that person courteous, informative about what is taught in the classroom and behind-the-wheel training
   -   On the phone: is that person knowledgeable about what programs and prices offered by the driving school
   -   Could I get a classroom schedule
   -   Could I set in the classroom and observe
   -   Can I ride along with the instructor and observe, and take notes on all training sessions
   -   Keep in mind that all the online Drivers Education and Home Study programs, they say are DMV Approved, remember this, in California, the driver education on-line is unregulated. WelcomeDriver online driver education is the only program that has been reviewed and approved by California DMV and endorsed by the Driving School Association of California that represents most of the driving schools in California.

Most teen drivers receive only minimal instruction or no instruction at all. In addition to fostering good vehicle handling skills, Jacobsen’s Driving School’s campaign strongly emphasizing common sense on how to drive safely, right from the start. Jacobsen’s driving school strongly recommends that parents sit down with their teenager and have a heart-to-heart talk and reach an agreement about these driving stipulations.
   -   Driving is NOT a RIGHT, Driving is a PRIVILEGE. Privileges are earned and maintained by responsible behavior.
   -   Wearing a safety belt is the best way to avoid injures or death in a accident. Also, make sure that everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained.
   -   NO alcohol or Drug use: Period! With the minimum drinking age 21. The law of-the-land states a zero tolerance for teens alcohol use while driving. NEVER take the wheel if you are not totally alert, lack of sleep, being emotional, and alcohol and drug impairment are all deadly on the road.
   -   Learning to drive requires your full time and attention. Talking on cell phones, eating, listening to loud music, anything that distracts is risky for any driver, especially a beginner.
   -   It’s a fact, when teens ride with friends, accidents are more likely because teens can be a major distraction. Many states prohibit teen passengers during the early months of driving and parents should set the same restrictions, even if their state does not.
   -   Today’s motor vehicles are very reliable. But they require maintenance for safe and dependable service. At a minimum, every teen driver needs to know how to check fluid levels, maintain the correct tire pressure and understand the meaning of the indicator lights that may appear on the instrument panel.

Jacobsen’s Driving School concentrates on the following four key driving skills that safety experts believe have the most promise of preventing accidents and resulting injures and fatalities.
   -   Recognizing and anticipating road hazards and dealing with them successfully.
   -   Learning how to handle different vehicles competently under a range of driving circumstances and maneuvers.
   -   Maintaining safe spacing with other traffic.
   -   Driving at speeds that are right for conditions.

We hope you will add your support to the program by providing your teen with additional in-car training from a professional licensed driver training instructor and by taking your teen for regular practice drives during his or her first year on the road.
